{ Review + Swatches } Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo Eyeshadows

Hey guys! Long time no blog! I'm finally back with another post, this time reviewing and swatching some of the Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo Eyeshadows. I know I'm pretty late to jump on this bandwagon but I saw these on sale in Wizards Warehouse (buy one get one free! Paid around $10AUD for 2!) so I really wanted grab a few.

Of course I picked up two of the neutral shades. I always like starting off my collection with colours I would use very often. I purchased 'Bad to the Bronze' and 'Bold Gold'. If you're not too familiar with these Color Tattoo eyeshadows, their texture is similar to that of cream eyeshadows. They're fairly smooth to apply on the lids and are extremely long-wearing! I remember swatching these eyeshadows on my arm then trying to remove it with some wet wipes and noticed the swatches were very much still visible on my skin. Even after a shower, a tint of the product still remained!

Not too sure about its wear over 24 hours! Who would wear makeup for 24 hours anyway?!!

L-R: Bad to the Bronze, Bold Gold

You can tell from the swatches above that both shadows have a noticeable shimmer to them with Bold Gold having some microglitters throughout its formulation. Due to its super long-wearing power, both shadows can be worn alone on the lids with very little creasing experienced or as a base for powder eyeshadows if you would like a more intense colour!

Bad to the Bronze by itself is extremely pigmented whereas Bold Gold provides a nice wash of shimmery gold on the lids hence I prefer wearing a gold eyeshadow on top of Bold Gold to make it more intense.

I personally like applying these shadows with my fingers because you're able to warm up the product first, making it more creamier and smoother before application. Another option if you don't like getting your fingers dirty is to use a synthetic eye brush!

Pros:
  • A range of shimmer or matte formulations to choose from
  • Very long-lasting (even without a primer)
  • No creasing for at least ~6 hours
  • Smooth to apply on the lids
  • Great pigmentation
  • Sturdy packaging

Cons:
  • Pricey (~$11AUD each when not on sale)
  • Dries fast so you have to blend the shadows in fairly quickly

I definitely recommend these eyeshadows, especially to those of you who may have super oily lids and have problems with your eyeshadows creasing or smudging easily. I would totally purchase more of these Color Tattoo shadows only if I see them on sale again in the future!

What other shades from the Maybelline Color Tattoo line do you guys recommend? Please share :D

xo Laura

  4. Such pretty colors! I love them and I agree with you. The only thing that makes them hard to work with is that you have to blend them so quickly. xx
