{ STYLE } Man Up

Happy Sunday all! Went out to brunch today and wore this khaki spiked jacket for the first time- I love the spiked shoulders and the gold spikes contrasting with the khaki denim.

A structured denim jacket, pleather pants and thick chunky boots- rather masculine and edgy don't you think? I don't typically go for this type of look but I thought why not change it up today. Plus, I've been really wanting to pair the jacket with some leather pieces!

I've been wearing these pants way too often! I love the leather panelling on the front and the soft fabric at the back. They're super comfortable to wear, so chic and are perfect paired up with almost everything.

Realised how affordable my outfit is lol. You don't really need to spend heaps of money to pick up some fab pieces. I'm always on the lookout for good sales and bargains- I can't resist!

{ YUM! } Sayers Sister

A celebratory lunch date to Sayers Sister with my bestfriend last week after my final exams! I've been meaning to try the food at this place for a while now since I've read quite a few awesome reviews, seen a ton of mouth-waterin' photos plus I love the food at Sayers which is their Leederville counterpart.

When you enter the cafe, you're greeted with an amazing decor- vintage elegance I like to call it. I love every detail they've put into this place, from the quirky ornaments, lux glass cloches, velvety glam couches and the beaten-down rustique walls.

Both the bestie and I ordered the same dish- chorizo and corn croquettes! The croquettes at Sayers Leederville is absolutely delicious so I really had to try the ones at Sayers Sister, and the fact chorizo was also in the dish was a major plus!

Corn and Chorizo Croquettes on a bed of blanched spinach and salsa topped with fresh rocket. 

Soo so yummy! Great crunch to the croquettes and not drenched with oil luckily! I really liked how not only were there slices of chorizo on the plate but also cubed chunks in the croquettes. The freshness of the salsa and vegies really made the dish a delight to eat as well. I think this dish was around the $17 mark which is not too bad. Only downside I would say about the dish is the lack of seasoning in the croquette mix. I'm actually not 100% sure if the filling was mash potatoes like traditional croquettes or something else. It tasted a little sweet, almost like there was a mix with sweet potatoes.

Overall an impressive dish with wonderful ingredients! I would definitely return to Sayers Sister to try more of their dishes- possibly their breakfast menu next time : )

I've only been to Sayers Sister once so I really can't compare it to Sayers in Leedy. Although, when it comes to interior and ambience, Sayers Sister definitely trumps Sayers!

On a random note, I just finished watching season 1 of Once Upon A Time in like 3 days or so *cheers to the freakin' holidays!*. I know season 2 has already started but I'm waiting for the bf to finish exams so we can watch it together! Apparently Mulan will appear in season 2 which will be portrayed by Jamie Chung!! Cannot wait!

Holidays are partly for discovering and catching up on my favourite tv shows. I'm currently watching around 9 different shows I think? #yeahimmatvjunkie. I recently started watching Scandal too and omgosh I'm hooked! Any suggestions for great tv shows?

{ STYLE } Sunset in the Valley

My favourite days- nothing but relaxing in perfect weather, sunny with the right amount of breeze. My recent roadtrip to the Swan Valley was amazing- I haven't been in so long and it was great to visit local hot spots and just admiring the scenery. I'm not much of a sight-seeing kinda girl but once in a while you need some quality time with mother nature.

{ STYLE } Minty City

I can't believe how warm the weather was today! Spring has finally arrived! I don't know if I should be sad or happy. I love winter/fall fashion but the sunny months are perfect for rocking those bright colours, pastels and also forces your legs out of hibernation and into some cute shorts! *yipeeee*

After the perfect brunch date, we strolled through Kings Park- admiring the sun and the beautiful flora.

{ YUM! } Lazy Sundays at the Tuck Shop

* PHOTO HEAVY !! :D * Our meals from the past two Sundays brunching at the Tuck Shop. We had such a great first visit that we wanted to go again the following week to try more of their dishes. Their menu is probably the most exciting brunch/lunch menu I've seen in a long time! Sundays are definitely very busy and it's only a small cafe so be prepared to wait for 15-30 minutes. Worth the wait though! Food and drinks are made fresh, beautifully presented and the wait staff are super friendly : )

Our food from visit 1:

Lamb, rosemary & vegetable pie: Pies are what the Tuck Shop are famous for! This was soo delicious- their pastry tasted so fresh and the filling was so flavoursome. The lamb was well cooked and tender too. Definitely recommend this one!

 Chorizo with paprika potatoes, peppers, spanish onions and crispy pork belly, fried egg: I chose this one after seeing so many photos of it whilst browsing Urbanspoon. Loved the flavours in the dish but wish they added more chorizo and pork belly! When I saw 'crispy' pork belly, I was expecting a crispy skin and a tender/soft pork meat although the whole thing was crispy which I didn't particularly enjoy.

Our food from visit 2:

 Moroccan meatballs with flatbread, tomato, hummus and za'atar fried egg: My boy's dish- he gives it a 6/10. Other than the great presentation and uniqueness of the dish, many aspects of it were lacking. He says the meatballs were too mushy, hummus was average and it was a little salty for his liking.

Bruschetta with grilled bacon, goats curd, tomato, avocado and basil salad: My dish! Loved the combination of ingredients and the presentation! Definitely something different to the traditional tomato and basil bruschetta! Only minus about this dish was the saltiness- a little too much salt from the bacon and the goats curd.

Beef, bacon & cheddar pie: Both pies we tried were yummy but I definitely prefer the pie during our first visit- I preferred the lamb and rosemary filling because of the gravy and tenderness of the vegies and lamb. This pie had a lot less sauce and the meat was more chunky.

  Vanilla shake: So freakin delicious! The extra vanilla pods added made this shake so heavenly. Tasted different to many other generic vanilla shakes I've tried. I like how the Tuck Shop's shake is not too thick and had the perfect vanilla taste. It was not overpowering-ly sweet which was great too.

Their menu: 

 Their menu apparently changes everyday. I only noticed very minor changes between my first and second visit.

Overall, I found the food to be tasty but not mind-blowing. I think my expectations were too high after reading the many outstanding reviews! Either way, I will definitely return- I just love how the rest of the dishes on their menu sounds.
