{ Review + Swatches } Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Creams

I've had these lipsticks in my possession for quite some time now and so have had plenty of time to play around with them. I initially just started with two of these shades, 'Razzle Dazzle Rose' and 'Spice Spice Baby' which I purchased from BeautyBay but when I went to my local Kit Cosmetics store which sells Too Faced products, I came to realise there was only a tiny difference in price which actually caught me by surprise. I was just so excited and couldn't believe that a store in Australia selling these American brands were actually selling them at a similar price to an online beauty store! Bare in mind though that BeautyBay do jack up their prices when you compare it to the actual retail price if you were to buy these in the U.S :( Anyways, I didn't want to wait for shipping hence I added 'Nude Beach' to my La Creme collection!

Like the name of the product suggests, these lipsticks are super duper creamy! They are not the most pigmented lipsticks but are very much buildable and provide a nice glossy finish on the lips. These lipsticks are said to be "infused with white lotus flower extract to hydrate, soothe and condition the lips...." while "power peptides condition and smooth the delicate lip area". From these descriptions, the obvious selling point is that these lipsticks will provide great moisturisation for your lips and would especially be great for those suffering from dry chapped lips. I hands down agree that these lip creams are very moisturising and apply very smoothly on the lips. In terms of lasting power of these lipsticks, they are not very long lasting. Probably around 4 hours without touching up which isn't very long but of course Too Faced didn't claim these lippies to be extra long lasting.

L-R: Nude Beach, Razzle Dazzle Rose, Spice Spice Baby

I don't have too much to say about the packaging. The lipsticks are just encased in a solid plain gold tube with 'Too Faced' embossed on the side of it. I do like the weight of these lipsticks though- they are more on the heavier side compared to other lipsticks but I like that because it feels more sturdy and of higher quality. The only negative I find with these types of packaging (similar to that of Urban Decay's Revolution lipsticks) is that the lipsticks are never perfectly centred and tend to melt and smear on the side of the tube (you can see it above if you look closely at 'Razzle Dazzle Rose'). You can also hear a bit of rattling when you shake the lippies which just makes me hella paranoid the lipstick will break off LOL!

If you're wondering about the smell of these lipsticks, it is unique indeed. I'm so bad at describing weird scents but it has a spicy musky scent(?). I don't mind it though- I actually quite enjoy it : )

L-R: Razzle Dazzle Rose, Nude Beach, Spice Spice Baby

My most worn shade would have to be 'Spice Spice Baby' which is quite surprising seeing that I'm all about the nude-pink shades. I love 'Spice Spice Baby' because it's just so easy to wear and just enhances the colour of your lips. I actually bought it because Jen (frmheadtotoe) was raving about it. It is indeed the perfect MLBB (my lips but better) shade. A really pretty warm rose-peachy neutral shade. 'Nude Beach' is a beautiful pinky peach nude shade whereas 'Razzle Dazzle Rose' comes off as a blue-toned rose-pink. You can also tell from the swatches above that they are high-shine lip products too!

Pros:
  • Wide shade range
  • Very moisturising and creamy
  • Nice glossy finish
  • Very smooth and easy to apply
  • Doesn't dry out the lips or expose fine lines
  • Buildable pigmentation

Cons:
  • Expensive - around the $30 mark
  • Not long lasting
  • Packaging style

Thankyou for reading and hopefully I'll see you in my next post!

{ Review + Swatches } Maybelline : Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipcolor

Whilst on my most recent vacay to Jakarta, I decided to go to the drugstore to see what makeup brands and products they had in store. I ended up purchasing quite a few items from the Maybelline stand, some of the products being these lipsticks which were super super inexpensive!! Each lipstick costed around $4AUD which is unheard of here in Australia! Maybelline lipsticks in Australia retails for around $15-17 :(

I've actually never even seen this particular line of 'Moisture Extreme' Maybelline lipsticks in Australia nor have I really heard anyone talk about it online. I'm guessing this may be an Asia exclusive line or just not very popular. If you guys have these lipsticks in your country, please let me know and thanks in advance : ) Unfortunately there weren't a great variety of shades to choose from or any that were my absolute favourites such as my nudes and pinky-mauves although I did pick up a couple to try out.

L-R: Summer Sunset, Loving Red, Bonbon Pink, Angel Rose

Like the name suggests, these lipsticks are extremely moisturising and apply like a dream. My favourites would have to be the reds, Summer Sunset and Loving Red. Bright pinks and corals don't really suit me and these seem to appear alot brighter and darker on my lips, plus I don't like shimmers in my lipsticks hence Bonbon Pink was a super fail for me.

Shade descriptions:
  • Summer Sunset: Dark burgundy red (cream) - wore this in one of my Instagram (laurasooji) pictures!
  • Loving Red: Cherry red, brighter than Summer Sunset (cream)
  • Bonbon Pink: Bright medium pink (shimmer)
  • Angel Rose: Pink-coral (cream)
L-R: Summer Sunset, Loving Red, Bonbon Pink, Angel Rose

Pros:
  • Very inexpensive and affordable
  • Moisturising and applies smoothly
  • Pigmented colours
  • Long lasting, especially the reds (I haven't worn Bonbon Pink or Angel Rose out yet so I'm not sure about its longevity. Reds are generally long lasting anyway)
  • Packaging looks sleek with a matte finish

Cons:
  • Not a great variety of shades to choose from
  • Not widely available (in my experience anyway)

So have you guys ever come across this line of Maybelline lipsticks in stores and if so whereabouts?
