{ Review + Swatches } Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

Tarte's Amazonian Clay blushes have been on my wishlist for the longest time since seeing a ton of beauty vloggers go on and on about how great they are. Unfortunately, Tarte is not sold in stores in Australia (except for one boutique in NSW apparently) and it was so difficult trying to track a store online that will ship it here but lo and behold, Tarazz was finally stocking Tarte makeup (I can't seem to find Tarte on the site anymore though..they tend to switch up the brands they stock so keep your eyes peeled, they might restock them!).

I purchased two of their blushes, one in 'Exposed' and the other in 'Dollface'.

'Exposed' is described as a nude, but more so a matte dusty rose shade. I really don't have any other blushes similar to this shade. I actually adore dusty rose blushes and I think more makeup brands should really put out more of these type of shades. This blush appears so natural when applied, providing the perfect amount of flush and colour and really perfect for any occassion. As it's a nude matte shade, it can really act as a nice subtle contour as well or enhance your existing contour shade. Definitely one of my favourite and go-to blushes at the moment!

'Dollface' is a matte cool-toned pink with blue undertones. It's honestly a very common looking pink blush colour, nothing very special. I don't get a ton of uses out of this blush as I don't really reach for it very often. A pretty pink shade but can easily be duped.

When I first received the blushes, I found it odd that the packaging looked different from each other. Apparently, Tarte has changed up their blush packaging with the newer one being what 'Dollface' is packaged in. I personally prefer the older packaging with the raised vine pattern around the word 'Tarte'. Can anyone confirm this?

In terms of application, these blushes apply really nicely on the cheeks and are long-wearing. I don't believe I've actually worn these blushes for 12 hours so I can't really comment on their claim that these blushes will last for up to 12 hours. They are not powdery at all and have the right amount of pigment to show a pretty flush on your cheeks.

I absolutely adore the pattern of the Amazon river on these blushes. Really unique! Tarte claims that these blushes are "infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River" hence the name, which I found was a pretty interesting way of manufacturing blushes.

These blushes contain 5.6g/0.20Oz of product and retail for $26USD or around ~$33AUD from when I purchased them on Tarazz. To me, they are honestly a bit expensive for what they are although I really do love 'Exposed' and if I ever ran out of it, I would probably repurchase.

Pros:
  • Not powdery
  • Nice shade range
  • Long-lasting
  • Beautiful packaging and blush design
  • Great pigmentation- can be applied lightly but is buildable
  • Applies smoothly

Cons:
  • Not easily accessible in Australia
  • Pricey

Have you tried these blushes? I think there was just so much hype around these blushes that when I did try it, I didn't find anything really that special about the blushes, with the exception of how gorgeous the shade 'Exposed' is. I would purchase more shades if only it wasn't for the steep price point or if there was some really pretty unique shade I wanted.
